Proud Camden

Ralph Fales

For decades, Blues musicians travelled a southern route from Mississippi through Louisiana and Texas, playing in small bars and road houses to lively audiences. In the mid 70s Photographer Ralph Fales was fortunate enough to be there with his camera to see, meet, and photograph some of these legends before this special era ended. His tender portraits are honest and intimate. He uses available light so as not to disrupt the performance with off-putting strobe. His work is up close and personal without being at all intrusive or contrived. These genuinely candid moments capture this magical era of music so well.
