Adrian Boot

Adrian is one of Britain’s best known music photographers. Having returned after some time in Jamaica teaching Physics, Adrian began his career by freelancing for NME, Melody Maker, The Times, The Guardian and The Face. He went on to become staff photographer for Melody Maker. He has shot some of the most famous faces in music, from Bob Marley to The Sex Pistols.

Adrian has worked all over the world on a wide variety of projects. He acted as chief photographer for Live Aid, for Nelson Mandela – Freedom at 70, for Roger Water’s The Wall in Berlin and for Greenpeace in the Soviet Union. He has also worked with ORBIS (the flying eye-hospital) in Africa, the British Council in Iraq and Jordan and withThe Grateful Dead in Egypt. He has worked extensively for Island Records in Jamaica, Colombia, Algeria, Nigeria and many other countries. Adrian’s books include Babylon On a Thin Wire and Jah Revenge (both with Michael Thomas) and Bob Marley – Songs of Freedom, Firefly – Noel Coward in Jamaica, Midnights in Moscow – in the USSR with Billy Bragg, Punk – History of a Music Revolution and Reggae Explosion – the Story of Jamaican Music (all with Chris Salewicz).
